A Good Day For Penlan RFC

Today saw Penlan RFC Under 7's take the short journey to Morriston RFC. The weather was near perfect for a Sunday morning game of rugby. With not much rugby being played of late due to the Great British weather, the boys were eager to get going. The whistle blew and the game was underway. The game started with high intensity and some excellent running and support play helped Penlan score their first try through Damien Ayres. It was Morriston who were the next team to get on the score sheet but it wasn’t long before Penlan were ahead again though a score by Jay Jones. With the back and forth way the game had started, it was Morriston who were next to register on the score board to make the score two a piece. It wasn’t long before Penlan started to up their game and show their dominance and go two ahead through tries for Damien Ayres and Dean Western. The Boys in blue and yellow were certainly giving the crowd a show. Morriston showed that they too could play with some good running they were able to cross the try line for the next to scores making the score 4 each. Penlan, as they had been doing all game, were making excellent runs and with one of those runs Riley Edwards-Butt was able to score the next try. It wasn’t only running that the boys were doing well, the support play was something Warren Gatland would be proud of. Morriston were able to cross the line next but Penlan didn’t let that get to them with team captain Harley Thomas going over for the next try. That was soon followed by a try by the eventual man of the match Damien Ayres. The home team were able to score one more try before Penlan started to put the game to bed. Before the final whistle, the visitors ran in 3 further tries starting with Bobby Harries, Harley Thomas and Damien Ayres. The final whistle followed with the score Morriston RFC 6 – Penlan RFC 11. To say the boys played well is an understatement and as coach was a little disappointed not to have received a call from Scrum V asking if they could give us a slot on the show. Well done to everyone.
