Once more a proud, loyal Penlan side took to the field hoping for a chance to gain their first win of the season. It was a murky day as Abercrave kicked off and in the early stages it looked as if it would be a close game that Penlan could secure. By 7 minutes both sides had landed tries but Penlan was ahead by 7 - 5 on conversion. By the end of the half, Abercrave had gone ahead with a second try and two penalties by 16 - 7. Within 2 minutes of the second half Penlan had scored their second converted try to narrow the Bryncoch lead to 16 - 14. That was to be the last for them though as Bryncoch closed them down to land a further tries in the second half and give them a 40 - 14 win at the final whistle.
